While it does fold, it does not fold flat. It should come out, as the cars with the folding seat obviously do not have it.Īs for the seat folding flat, yes and no. I'm a visual person and I've never had a Toyota without a folding seat, so I can't exactly envision what the cross member looks like, but I would imagine it is just something to protect the seat back from damage if you shove something into the trunk hard. You will need to take the brackets, hinges, release mechanism and any other hardware from the donor car. The one I have now would prevent anything from going into the back seat from the trunk. Great, I'll look for an 8th generation LE, but will I be able to get a different cross member(brackets) from it also. Look for an LE in the junkyard, they should all have the folding seat, although the fabric on the seat may be slightly different.Great, I'll look for an 8th generation LE, but will I be able to get a different cross member(brackets) from it also. You need to stick to the folding seat from a 98-02 model. The '03 Corolla is a completely different car than your 8th generation Corolla and so there is no way that a seat from a 2003 or later Corolla would fit. The '03 was the first year of the 9th generation Corolla, all of which (with the exception of the XRS) had a standard folding rear seat. Can I find that part at a junk yard and does it have to be a 98-01 to fit? I did see that an 03 that has a fold down seat. the ride will be a little louder though.Īfter looking at it I see what looks like a cross member(vertical) between the back seat and the trunk that would need to go. Yea, you can take the rear seatback out, its just held in by some bolts.
